Exploring Cycles of Incarnation: A Mother and Her Son
Hang Ming
[PureInsight.org] I am a Mainland Chinese living in the United States. It was purely by coincidence that I started to explore past lives and to confirm a belief shared by many cultures that good deeds will ultimately be rewarded in this life or the next. The year 1995 was the darkest period in my life. I fell into depression after a severe car accident and a failed romantic relationship. I couldn't sleep. I couldn't eat. I lost faith in life. I asked myself repeatedly the meaning of life. On the other hand, I also believed that each man must carry out certain responsibilities for society so I must not allow myself to become overcome with depression. Eventually I began to feel strongly about pursuing the meaning of life and a person's responsibilities in life.

As a start, I began to recall the car accident. It should have been just a purely random accident, but there were some signs that told me that it was not. There seemed to be the result of some unknown forces at work. Three days before the car accident, someone told me to take precautions because he thought I was going to run into a big trouble. I didn't believe him at all. "How can anyone predict the future?" I thought. Going against all probabilities, I did have a severe car accident three days after the warning. It was then I decided to conduct my own research on lives and incarnations. I did a lot of reading and two books written by western psychiatrists were very inspiring to me, especially Many Lives, Many Masters: The True Story of a Prominent Psychiatrist, His Young Patient, and the Past-Life Therapy That Changed Both Their Lives, a million-copy bestseller by Dr. Brian L. Weiss, a noted psychiatrist and a graduate of Columbia University and Yale Medical School. I followed the instructions in his book for hypnosis and tried to hypnotize my friends as experiments. I found that I have a natural gift for hypnosis and have became quite good at hypnotizing people over time. I found out that all the volunteers who participated started to make very positive changes in their lives after the hypnosis and their experiences had very good influences on their families and society. In this series of exploring the cycle of incarnations, I will share some real stories of incarnations I heard during the hypnosis sessions with my friends.

A Restaurant Owner and Her Son
A friend of mine is a restaurant owner and often quarreled with her son. She had a career plan for her son, but her son was determined to take a different path. "I have been slaving away in the restaurant to make more money for your education," she thought. "I have your best interests in mind when I plan your future, but you are not grateful for my efforts and my good intentions. You even quarrel with me constantly!" She told me that she had become so frustrated with her son that she began to lose interest in running the restaurant and wanted to retire. Later her son agreed to be hypnotized as an effort to improve their relationship. My friend was present during the hypnosis when her son visited many of his previous lives, so they both learned the cause and effect relationships between them.

First, the son visited a previous life in India. He moaned for water and said that he was a lonely old man accompanied by a monkey only. There was a drought in his village and he volunteered to go out and seek a source of water. He traveled in the desert and struggled to keep going, leaning on a walking cane. After a lot of trials and tribulations, he finally found a water resource following the lead of his monkey. He was overwhelmed with joy and hurried back to report his discovery to the chief of the tribe. Because of him, his entire village of people survived the drought. The chief of his tribe was immensely grateful to him. The chief became his father in the present life. His father has been very affectionate to him. Obviously he has been trying to repay him for what he had done in the previous life. There was also something else that is worth mentioning. He also saw his future girlfriend in the present life although he has not met her yet. The daughter of the chief will be his girlfriend in the present life. Although he is only 19 years old and has not met his girlfriend in the present life, she is going to enter his life soon.

Next, he visited another of his previous lives set in Korea. In that life he was a handsome young man in a village. He fought with another young man from the village for a girl. During the fight, his opponent cut his right lower arm with a knife and fled from the scene. We were shocked to find that my friend's son carries a birthmark in the present life in the same location on his right lower arm that looks very much like a scar. I asked him if he had met the young man in the present life. He said that he has met him and the young man has become a good friend of his in New York in the present life. The friend has been extremely nice to him. Obviously he has been trying to repay him for the assault in the previous life. I asked him about the girl they were fighting over again, and he told me that she has not entered his life yet.

Finally he visited a previous life in Taiwan. He was the owner of a pharmacy in Taiwan. One day a farming woman entered his pharmacy timidly. She told him, "My entire family has become ill and I need medicine right away, but we cannot afford the expenses. I was wondering if you would be so kind as to give us some medicine for free?" He was a kindhearted man. He could tell that the farming woman was not a fraud and she truly needed medicine, so he gladly gave away the medicine and saved the lives of her entire family. The farming woman was very grateful and pledged that she would repay him. It appears that one's wish in one life will determine the next life. They become a family in the present life. The farming woman became his mother in this life.

My friend immediately understood the cause and effect relationship between them. All the hard labors and sacrifices she has made for her son resulted from the debt she had pledged to repay in the previous life. The many incarnations of her son that were revealed under hypnosis demonstrated that each man's destiny is a result of what he has done in his previous lives. Even as a mother, she can change her son's life no more than she can change hers. She decided to resign herself to god's will and let her son take the path he has chosen. She had thought that she was doing a good thing to arrange his future, but that may not be his destiny.

After the hypnosis, they stopped fighting. My friend's son continues his studies and my friend closed her restaurant and started a new business.

This story of my friend and her son has illustrated that the cause and effect relationship, as well as karmic retribution, are by no means creations of the ancient Chinese people's imagination or superstition.

Chinese Regime Detains Independent Film Maker

Chinese Regime Detains Independent Film Maker

By Ji Lisi
Radio Free Asia
Apr 02, 2006

Wu Hao graduated from the Biology Department of the University of Science and Technology of China. He came to U.S. in 1992 to study and went back to China in 2004. He then started producing and directing films. One of his documentary films, Beijing or Bust , tells how six Chinese Americans live in Beijing.

On the afternoon of February 22, Wu Hao was taken into custody by officials from the Beijing Public Security Bureau when he was meeting with underground Church members to plan for his next documentary film. During the day, Wu Hao called his family and the tone of his voice suggested he was concerned of being monitored. On February 24, Wu Hao's video equipment and several videocassettes were taken away from his home. After Wu Hao was detained, the local authorities summoned one of his friends twice.

A reporter from our Cantonese team called Beijing Public Security Bureau, and was asked to leave a telephone number for later contact. But, there has been no reply when this report was made.

The spokesperson of Global Voices Online said Beijing Public Security Bureau admitted it had custody of Wu Hao but refused to give any reason for his detainment or for how long he will be detained. The spokesman also said that for safety considerations, Wu Hao's family will not accept any media interviews at this time.

Wu Hao's family believes the authorities want to crackdown on underground churches through him and his films. His family worries about Wu Hao's safety because he may not cooperate with the authorities. Wu's family called for international help and urged the Chinese communist regime to release Wu Hao soon.

According to Wu's family, he once had a phone conversation with lawyer Gao Zhisheng, the famous human rights defender. Wu suggested a meeting on February 22 but Gao thought that was not an appropriate time.

A reporter called Gao Zhisheng several times for verification but failed to get in touch with him. When Wu Hao studied in the U.S., he obtained a Master's degree in molecular biology from Brandeis University and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He used to conduct technical research. He was also a salesman and a manager at an Internet company. In 2004, he started to direct and produce films. His many articles appeared online and touched the sensitive topics criticizing the Chinese communist regime. In February 2006, Wu Hao became the editor of the Northeast Asian region for Global Voices Online.

Released Hunger Striker Describes His Ordeal

Released Hunger Striker Describes His Ordeal

Exclusive interview with Hu Jia, renowned human rights advocate in Beijing

By Xinfei
The Epoch Times
Apr 03, 2006

Hujia on March 28, the evening he was released. (The Epoch Times)

Hu Jia, the renowned Beijing-based human rights advocate, returned home on March 28, 41 days after his disappearance on February 16. Because of pre-existing liver problems and physical abuse by the police, doctors said that his situation was not optimistic and that his liver was showing signs of cirrhosis. Mr. Hu's account follows.

Abducted

I was detained for 41 days. The first 21 days were spent in Taihu Town, Tongzhou District. From March 8 onwards, they moved me to Dagao Village, Liyuan Town, Tongzhou District. The detention orders came directly from the National Security Bureau under the Police Headquarters in Beijing. Two teams were sent to handle my case.

On the night of February 15, I received a short message stating that Qi Zhiyong [another hunger strike participant] had been abducted. The next day, I contemplated rescuing Qi Zhiyong and taking part in an AIDS conference. An officer from the Tongzhou District National Security Bureau requested authorization from his superior and an approval was granted. At 9 a.m. I went downstairs and saw strangers in a police car.

Without thinking, I stepped into the car and immediately felt a tense atmosphere. They appeared vicious with their heads lowered and their eyes squinting at me. The car drove out of the small town and turned left towards the open countryside. The person next to the driver instructed someone in the back to restrain me.

Before I could react, the two men on either side of me lifted my hands high behind my back, twisted my wrists, pushed my head down until it was wedged between the front passenger and right door. They also thrust their knees into my stomach and covered my head with a black bag.

I resisted and told them, "Let go of me! What you are doing is illegal," but they pushed their knees into me even harder as they drove away very quickly. I was nearly tortured to death. My head was spinning, and I started to vomit.

They drove for more than half an hour before stopping and dragging me out of the car. They searched me, took my mobile phone, pen and wallet. Then they left me lying there.

I lay there for more than an hour before I slowly recovered and sat up. I found myself in a dark and cold hotel room with a group of policemen watching me. I asked them to release me, but they just grinned and said they were under orders from their superiors. I desperately wanted to go home as I was worried about my wife. I even tried to make my head bleed by hitting it with a table lamp, but the police were indifferent.

Police Interrogate Me about Hunger Strike Activities

At 9 p.m., three officers from the Beijing Police Headquarters came to see me. They told me that they had had many dealings with me, but this was the first time they had met me in person.

They came straight to the point, asking me when the hunger strike activities began, what responsibilities I have, what we planned to do, who arranges the order of the activities, how they are organized, how many people are involved, and what relationship I have with Gao Zhisheng.

They also asked, "Were you instigated by him [Gao Zhisheng]?" I replied clearly that I do not accept directions from others, and this matter [participating in the hunger strike] was purely my own decision.

After interrogating me for one and a half hours, they warned me to avoid having any dealings with Gao Zhisheng as it would not do me any good.

Thirty-Day Hunger Strike in Protest

When they interrogated me on the first day, they tried to sow discord by saying, "Are you really on a hunger strike at home? Who will believe that you actually carried out a hunger strike? Did Gao Zhisheng actually go on a hunger strike? Do you think he actually did so?"

This is a despicable trick that they often use〞creating dissension. In order to refute their challenge of the hunger strike, I started a hunger strike lasting 30 days from February 16. The first five days, I abstained from food and water.

On the fourth evening, Officer Tong from the Tongzhou District National Security Bureau came to see me. He said, "If you continue on like this, we will deal with you in one of two ways. Either we will give you a drip [intravenous feeding] or treat you just like a Falun Gong practitioner〞force feeding you through the nose. We will insert a plastic tube through your nose into your stomach and force feed you. Even if you don't die, you will suffer while you are alive."

The Policemen Lie Shamelessly

After my release, I discovered that my wife, parents and friends had gone everywhere seeking help to find me. I found it hard to believe that my wife had no idea what had happened to me.

Everyone in the Tongzhou and Zhongcang police stations knew about my abduction. Those police officers took turns guarding me. Everyone knew, yet they lied to my wife again and again, denying my situation, and even saying they were looking for me too.

Before my release, the Beijing National Security Bureau office performed a full body search. Any written material that I had on me was confiscated. They said, "We cannot leave anything behind that can be used as evidence [against us]."

They even covered my head with a bag in the car when we were going back home. They drove in circles and threatened me: "It will do you no good to mess around with the Communist Party. If you continue on like this, you will again suffer, and your family members will come under pressure. All this will happen again and again."

They appeared very nervous. Officers from the Beijing City National Security Bureau sent me back, but they did not dare drive their own cars. They borrowed a car from the Tongzhou National Security Bureau. They did not send me home for fear of leaving behind any material evidence. They dropped me off one hour from my home and let me walk the rest of the way by myself.

I Will Never Give Up

They had held me for 41 days, yet the police did not have any legal documents or follow any procedures. They did not even inform my family. What kind of actions are these? How do you account for this?

I will not let this matter rest. I am going to find out who the instigators are and which policemen detained me. I will look them in the eye and ask, "Did you see me or not?"

I will also try to sue Beijing City Police Headquarters and continue to participate in human rights activities with attorney Gao Zhisheng.

I was part of the AIDS care organization. Because of my suppression by the authorities, volunteers, co-workers, and even AIDS victims in the organization were threatened and harassed by the State Security Office and police department. They even found it difficult to get donations. For this reason, I was forced to leave this beloved organization, but I will not give up my work in that area. I will continue to care for AIDS victims and help as much as I can.
